Product Description
EFB (Empty Fruit Bunch) is the by-product from crude palm oil mill which having low economic value before more application being developed. Empty Fruit Bunch is used as renewable energy power generation as well as raw material to produce hard and soft composite panels, composite boards, medium density fibreboard, paper and paperboard.
Current developments include pressing and shredding EFB to get fibre for power generation through a biomass boiler. Beyond that, further cleaning process and processing can convert the fibres for replacing coconut fibres for mattress making.
Shredded EFB Fibre has become a major biomass development in Malaysia. Many steam generation companies are securing EFB fibre supply chain from palm oil mills for supplying steam to the surrounding industry.
Apart there are also companies buying the EFB and recover the fibres from EFB. The EFB fibres have more economic value that could be used as fibre mattress. There are also researches extracting Vitamin E from fibre or re-grinding the fibre in smaller grain size mixing in the food chain.
